We at Offene Arme e.V/Cesrt want to thank each and every one of you for your kindness and concern during the tumultuous experiences of the last month. As you know, times are always difficult working in this field but, recently, it has been especially tough for us. We have really appreciated all of your messages of concern and kindness, and your offers of support. Your words have reminded us how lucky we are to have a huge, global Offene Arme e.V/Cesrt family who are with us always.

Many crises have hit us at one time and, as a result, we decided it is was wise to reduce our operational capacity in the short term. Though we continue with our emergency projects, our team on site is now much smaller. We want you to know we are taking all safety measures necessary to keep our volunteers safe and we are constantly carefully considering our next steps as we feel the effects of political turmoil, civil unrest and the risk of coronavirus. We are prepared that we may also have to cease our operations if the government demands this.

At this time, we are really sad to announce that we will not accept any new volunteers until the situation here has been resolved. With the health risk across Europe we do not want to put any person at risk during this time. We have thought about these actions carefully and we feel it is for the best in order to reduce the chance of virus exposure to all vulnerable persons on the island. These are the people that we serve and provide for – it would be irresponsible of us to act in any other way. We really hope you understand and we will let you know when we are ready to take volunteers again. We look forward to meeting you in the future!!
